Benefits of HOHA

Harvey Oaks Homeowner’s Association’s Mission Statement

The Harvey Oaks Homeowner’s Association (HOHA) supports its members by promoting the overall value of the subdivision in a way that keeps properties attractive so that the neighborhood will continue to be a very desirable place to live.  Below are the ways HOHA carries out this Mission Statement.

HOHA works with its membership, the City of Omaha (City), and various organizations to maintain and improve the appearance of Harvey Oaks.

  • Owns and maintains three well-lit entrance area signs.
  • Maintains the landscaping and plantings for the three entrance areas.
  • Pays for the entrance area signs insurance and utilities.
  • Decorates the entrance areas during the holidays.
  • Maintains the ball diamond and tennis court using a network of volunteers.
  • Organizes entrance areas clean-up days.
  • Obtains grants, whenever possible, for improvement to the area (i.e. climbing tower in the middle park).
  • Represents the community when the City asks for neighborhood input (i.e. park improvements).
  • Keeps the area’s needs high in the City’s list of projects and priorities through on going communication.
  • Maintains and updates a set of ‘Property Guidelines’ to help retain an attractive environment in a competitive real estate market.
  • Organizes an annual neighborhood Yard Sale and Clean-Up Day to minimize the accumulation of unwanted materials.

HOHA deals with issues that are important to its members.

  • Maintains a network of local contacts (29 Area Directors) to provide feedback to the organization and homeowners concerns.
  • Maintains the HOHA web site that provides timely news and communications about the neighborhood.
  • Publishes a newsletter to update members on issues, including lists of available babysitters, snow shovelers, and pet sitters.
  • Coordinates with the City to facilitate necessary street maintenance.
  • Meets with the City to provide input during planning such as the West Center Road widening and playground upkeep.
  • Works with homeowners to assist with complaints on snow removal, noise, traffic problems, and building permit issues for adjacent properties.
  • Maintains open communication with the police department to assist with vandalism and other complaints.  This has resulted in faster response and assistance in several instances.
  • Operates a weekend Citizen’s Patrol to enhance the safety of the neighborhood. This activity has the strong encouragement of the police department.

HOHA builds a strong sense of neighborhood/community

  • Supports the Harvey Oaks School’s PTO and scout troops.
  • Publishes the HOHA neighborhood membership directory on an annual basis.
  • Organizes three social events (spring candy hunt, family picnic, and holiday party).
  • Supports local athletic activities for baseball, softball, and soccer teams.
  • Maintains relationships with real estate agents to gain support and feedback.
  • Welcomes new homeowners to the community through its network of Area Directors.
  • Encourages members to become involved in HOHA activities.
